Decisions concerning infringement procedures against eleven EU countries

The European Commission on 24 June published five press releases concerning infringement procedures in the field of taxation against eleven EU Member States. For each case, the Member State(s) involved and the area of taxation are briefly mentioned below:

• Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom, VAT grouping rules (IP/10/795);
• France, excise duties on tobacco (IP/10/793);
• France, VAT rates for first public performances (IP/10/793);
• Ireland, reduced VAT rates for horses and greyhounds, (IP/10/796);
• Luxembourg, inheritance taxation, (IP/10/794);
• The Netherlands, VAT exemption for water sport activities, (IP/10/796);
• Austria, VAT exemption for aircraft (IP/10/796);
• Poland, VAT exemption for aircraft (IP/10/796);
• United Kingdom, income tax rules for seafarers (IP/10/792).
